The role

 

We are looking for a Business Support Manager to join our Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub to lead a team of committed and dedicated MASH Information Officers.

Ofsted noted in September 2020 that despite the challenges for Southwark with COVID-19 – “A rapid, whole-council response to support children’s well-being and to avoid families falling into poverty has resulted in a very impressive range of help, support and intervention.

Senior managers and staff have ensured that children and young people continue to be safeguarded. The best possible decisions are being made about children’s care and education, despite the disruption and impact of the pandemic. Despite the immense pressures arising from the ongoing impact of COVID-19, commitment to continue to protect and invest in front-line services for children remains strong.

An alliance of schools, public health, family centres, social care, police, health visitors and community organisations worked closely together to provide a safety net for vulnerable children in need of services and targeted support to attend school and keep children safe”.

You’ll play an integral part of our “One Front Door” services for children and families in Southwark.  Key tasks will include managing the gathering and sharing of information, processing new referrals into services, being mindful of strict deadlines and most importantly the need to safeguard and promote the well-being of children and families.

Ideally you will bring knowledge of the statutory responsibilities and duties of a local authority Children’s Service and understanding of services in place to safeguard children and young people.

In addition you must have the experience to enable you make appropriate decisions about referrals and the skills needed to listen, gather and record essential information accurately as well as identify when children are in need of urgent protection.

Your excellent IT skills will be in demand as well as strong interpersonal skills, reliability, stamina and highly developed organisational skills.

The Southwark Council, its staff and partners, have continued to achieve a Good Ofsted rating for the last 10 years following various inspection visits.
