The Role:
A modern library is about more than lending books. It’s a hub for the community, giving everyone access to greater information and understanding. For those of us working in Southwark libraries, it’s about providing a service that’s is vibrant, inclusive and culturally diverse.
As the public face of our library, you will be there to ensure we deliver a high level of customer care, while playing a key role in providing efficient and effective services.
You must be a person who loves working with children. You will run baby and toddler, craft sessions and read stories to children.
You must have good IT skills to support customers with Microsoft Word application and run One to One IT sessions
You will be on hand to answer any enquires and provide support for the public. You will also help organise and run all sorts of adult and children events and promotional activities, both inside and outside the library
About You:
Flexible, adaptable and organised, you will not be afraid of taking charge of the building, staff and premises when required. You will have the strong customer focus that comes from working in a public-facing role coupled with excellent communication skills.

Additional salary details
Southwark libraries have vacancies for Library Officers covering a range of hours.
The hours are 36 , 24 and 18.
All posts will work in the evenings until 8 pm twice a week and alternate Saturday's
