The role

As the public face of the library, you’ll be there to offer everyone a warm welcome. You’ll make sure all of the day-to-day operations run smoothly, including answering queries, shelving books, checking out and returning books, and joining new members.

  • Receiving, discharging and issuing items of library stock using the library computer system
  • Dealing with basic operational queries, reservations, renewals and membership applications
  • Assisting with indoor and outdoor adults and children’s events
  • Assisting members of the public with basic IT enquiries
  • Providing basic guidance to members of the public in the use of library equipment and services

About You:

We are looking for people with great communication skills and a high standard of customer care who can show understanding to a wide range of customers. It’s very important that you’ve strong organisation skills and can work well in a team. You will have a good understanding of basic computing, including word processing and web browsing and an enthusiasm for libraries and promoting literature to all ages.

Additional details

- There are a range of part-time permanent positions, working on the weekends 8 hours per week

- Standard DBS check will be required
