The role

For us, libraries are a hub for the community – offering somewhere anyone can access greater knowledge and information. That’s where you come in.

As the public face of the library, you’ll be there to offer everyone a warm welcome. You’ll make sure all of the day-to-day operations run smoothly, from answering queries to shelving to checking out and returning books to joining new members.

We are looking for people with great communication skills and a high standard of customer care who can show understanding to a wide range of customers. It’s very important that you’ve strong organisation skills and can work well in a team. You will have a good understanding of basic computing, including word processing and web browsing and an enthusiasm for libraries and promoting literature to all ages.

We have a range of posts and hours per week available Please indicate on your application form what your preference is:

15 hours - Monday - Friday working evenings  5pm-8pm
11 hours - Saturday and Sunday
8 hours - Saturday and Sunday
4 hour  - Saturday or Sunday
