The role

About Southwark:

Southwark is a large, ambitious and progressive council with a ‘can do’ attitude and enviable reputation. As a Council, we are successful, passionate and forward-thinking. We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.

The Southwark skyline is an impressive sight. The incredibly diverse range of buildings, offices and social facilities make it a real mix of old and new.

With its vibrant, energetic feel, Southwark is a very attractive place to work if you relish the challenges of a dynamic and inner city context where complexity, change and energy are high.

The Role:

25.25 hours per week

A modern library is about more than lending books. It is a hub for the community, giving everyone access to lifelong learning, IT support and community engagement.

For those of us working in Southwark’s libraries, it is about providing a service that is as vibrant, diverse and interesting as the area we live in.

As the Libraries and Heritage Support Officer, you will provide centralised administrative, performance and financial support to the library and heritage service.

This includes staffing cover and duty management in libraries as required.

You will assist the Operations Manager in ensuring the efficient organisation of library service provision including staff deployment, staff training, buildings maintenance and ensuring libraries are open to the public as per advertised hours.

About You:

We are looking for people with great communication skills and a high standard of customer care to a diverse community and who work well in a team.

You will have good understanding of basic computing and word processing, web browsing and an enthusiasm for libraries.
