The role
We seek a legal assistant with associate membership of CILEX, or a law degree or equivalent qualification to join our established litigation team. The successful candidate will have experience of litigation, particularly in relation to a broad range of housing litigation, including possession proceedings and tenancy issues. Knowledge and experience of general litigation work will also be welcomed.
The central purpose of the role is assisting litigation lawyers in the delivery of quality legal services to the council’s departments.
This will involve advising council officers on tenancy issues, conduct of own case load of advice and routine/less complex litigation matters including drafting court documents and witness statements and liaising with external agencies including briefing barristers.
You should have a good working knowledge of court procedures and rules and be adept at prioritising, developing contacts and relationships with client groups and ensuring quality service provision.
