The Role:
The role would suit a candidate who is looking to gain some experience within the council’s large Lexcel accredited Legal Department.  The Contracts Team is seeking a Legal Assistant (on a secondment basis) for a period of up to 12 months.   The role will involve providing full-time legal and administrative support to the contracts lawyers predominately responding to requests for legal services, preparing routine legal letters, maintaining information and records system, formalising contracts and drafting non-complex legal documents.  Training and support will be provided to enable the successful candidate to fulfil these duties.  

About You:
-You will have literacy skills in order to research and produce reports, management information, non-standard correspondence, minutes and accurate records of meetings. 
-You will have numeracy skills in order to compile statistical and financial information.  You will need to be good at listening to instructions and have excellent time management skills. 
-You should possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office at a level to compile; reports (including embedded tables/diagrams), correspondence, presentations, maintaining spreadsheets, and meeting arrangements.  Good interpersonal skills and the ability to encourage positive working relationships with staff and colleagues is necessary. 
 -You will understand the importance of client care and how to provide it.  You will have experience of managing your own caseload.   

Additional Information:
-You will either have a law degree or its equivalent or Stage 1 ILEX. 
-This is a full-time secondment opportunity for up to 12 months, in the first instance, commencing by the end of July 2023.
