The role

Are you ready to bring your expertise to Southwark Council and make a real impact in the heart of London? The Residential Conveyancing and Compliance Team is on the lookout for a passionate and experienced Leasehold Surveyor to join us full-time, permanently. We’re offering an engaging role that puts you at the forefront of fire safety, guiding leaseholders and freeholders through vital property adaptations and alterations.

What You’ll Do:

  • Work with the Residential Conveyancing Manager to assess fire safety in permission-to-alter applications.
  • Serve as the team's expert on fire safety, identifying risks and overseeing remedial actions.
  • Ensure compliance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and other health and safety laws.
  • Inspect properties, ensure fire safety compliance, and provide guidance to residents and colleagues.
  • Collaborate with Building Control and the Fire Safety Team to keep the community safe and informed.
  • You may be expected to attend scheduled appointments across the Borough so ad hoc travel is required.

How will you make an impact:

We're looking for a motivated Leasehold Surveyor with a sharp eye for detail and a talent for making a real impact and driving positive change. Ideally, you bring a mix of the following:

  • Solid background in Leasehold Surveying ideally gained in the public housing sector.
  • Deep knowledge of fire safety regulations in accordance with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005
  • Strong skills in communicating, instructing, and maintaining relationships with suppliers, contractors, and customers.
  • Able to plan, prioritise, and handle multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Skilled in MS Office applications.
  • Flexibility of home working with trips to our London Bridge HQ.
