The Role

Now, picture yourself as a key player in our large Lexcel accredited Legal Team, where innovation meets purpose. We're on the lookout for an experienced Lawyer with a background in - housing and anti-social behaviour matters. This isn't just any legal role; it's an opportunity to make a tangible impact on the lives of our residents, ensuring fairness and good governance.

As part of our collaborative Litigation Team, you'll dive into a diverse range of challenges, providing expert legal advice and representation on issues arising from the council’s housing and anti-social behaviour functions; including civil injunctions under the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014 and other council powers, closure orders, housing possession proceedings, and beyond.

We understand the importance of autonomy balanced with support, which is why you'll have the freedom to manage your own caseload while receiving guidance from our seasoned senior lawyers and Litigation Management Team. You’ll also have the opportunity to gain experience in legal work arising from the council’s regulatory private sector housing functions and to develop in other aspects of the work of the team, including licensing sub-committee.

How will you make an impact as our Lawyer for Housing and Anti-Social Behaviour?

  • You will be a qualified and experienced solicitor, barrister or legal executive, with an excellent knowledge and post qualification experience of housing law, policy and procedure relevant to the public sector.
  • You're passionate about delivering an excellent legal service with a deep understanding of Anti-social behaviour/PSED law relating to housing tenancy management.
  • Able to quickly get up to speed with new law and policy and apply it effectively.
  • Knowledge of local government law, and its relevance to the work of the team.
  • A high comfort level with evaluating evidence and risk.
  • Is able to demonstrate examples of collaborating with clients confidently, and delivering legally sound, high quality, and solutions based advice.
  • Has the ability to explain legal concepts in a clear and concise manner, tailored appropriately to your audience.
  • Your ability to navigate complex legal landscapes, coupled with your knack for building strong client relationships, sets you apart.
  • Time management isn't just a skill; it's a way of life for you, and you thrive in environments where collaboration is key.
  • This role offers flexible home working (of up to 2 days a week) blended with travel into our London Bridge HQ.

Please note there is a market factor payment of 5% of salary + hard to fill payment of £2,327 package which can be redeemed against gym membership, health insurance, season ticket purchase, bicycle purchase, additional voluntary contribution to pension, subscription and professional fees.
