Young people of Southwark need support to help them access employment that reflects their ambitions and hard work, now more than ever.
Our paid internships aim to create positive futures for Southwark residents aged 16 to 24, who need help to get on the career ladder.
We’ve committed to paying our interns the London Living Wage
Our current internships last for 12 weeks and are across a variety of our departments.

About our internship opportunities
We are looking for six interns to join us in March 2021, in the following areas:
1. Transformation within children's services
We have three intern positions available in this team that are centred around data support, project support and family support (requires an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check). Interns work in a small team of less than 10 people, helping to co-ordinate projects across children’s services.
2. Organisation Development
We have one intern position available in this team and are looking for interns with an interest in Human Resources and Learning and Development. The Organisation Development intern will work as part of the wider Organisation Transformation Team to support in modernising the way we manage and support our workforce to respond to local needs. Key projects include: ‘Southwark Ways of Working’ and 'Southwark Stands Together' initiatives, tackling racial inequalities, racism and injustice.
3. IT and Digital
We have two intern positions available in this team. We are looking for interns with an interest and willingness to learn about IT and technology projects. You could be involved in: supporting the Digital Signage project, audio/video conferencing in meeting room project, supporting Windows 10 project, reviewing technology road map, supporting the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government funding project
What we are looking for in our interns
Some key areas we look for in our interns are:
- An understanding of equality and diversity, health and safety and confidentiality.
- An understanding of what is required around timekeeping, attendance and conduct in the workplace.
- Working efficiently and effectively with customers and or peers.
- Working flexibly as part of a team.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
