The Internship Programme at Southwark
Now more than ever, the young people of Southwark need support to help them access employment that reflects their ambitions and hard work.
Our paid internships are aimed at creating positive futures for young residents aged 16-24, who need help to get on the career ladder.
We’ve committed to paying our Interns the Living Wage as a minimum, currently set at £10.75 per hour.
Internships can last anywhere between 6 -12 weeks and are all across our council departments.

About the Opportunity at Southwark
Join as an intern in our Great Estates Team to help on an important project. This Internship will last for 12 weeks and we have 1 placement available.
What you will be doing
You will be acting in a vital project support officer role for the Great Estates Team. We’re looking for someone who is excited to gain skills in the following areas:
- Administration Support
- Assisting with effective communication between project management and colleagues
- Helping maintain project records
- Finding new ways of working with Southwark residents to improve the look and feel of Southwark Estates
And who is excited to work on our Great Estates programme to ensure that every estate is clean, safe and cared for. The Great Estates Programme is about:
- celebrating Southwark council estates for the long-term
- highlighting the positives and setting a higher standard
- identifying new ways to improve the look, feel and lived experience of Southwark Estates
- speaking to residents on the projects that they would like to see on their estates.
This is an opportunity to gain essential project support skills, whilst helping people in the community and contributing to making a difference to the future of Southwark’s Great Estates - get involved!
About You
Here are some key areas we look for:
- An understanding of Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Confidentiality.
- An understanding of what is required around timekeeping, attendance and conduct in the workplace.
- Working efficiently and effectively with customers and or peers.
- Working flexibly as part of a team.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
