The Role:
January 2023 will be our fifth cohort and we’re excited to launch our new programme. The programme will run for 12 weeks and will incorporate three key elements:
- Paid work experience
- Master classes
- A group project
We have Intern posts available in a variety of service areas across the council, these include;
HR Policy & Projects Team oversees and leads on significant projects and programmes across HR & OD.
Climate Change our team drives the council’s central target of becoming carbon neutral by 2030. We provide expertise and support to the wider organisation on reducing carbon emissions and protecting green space and nature.
All Age Disability service is situated in Adult Social Care. This service provides a comprehensive and integrated social care pathway for children and young people with learning disabilities and other disabilities from childhood into adolescence and on into adulthood through a seamless care pathway.
Southwark Fostering team – the third largest in London – not just foster carers but our new Supported Lodgings Host project as well. This means there is a lot to do – marketing, talking to the public and generally engaging people about what an important role Fostering is.
Exchequer Services manages the income collection, recovery and enforcement for council tax, business rates and the rent income teams.
Strategy and Change Team lead and manage corporate programmes of delivery across a range of strategy and partnership functions. This includes doing research and strategy development, and assisting with governance, community and business planning, and performance reviews.
Local Economy Team you will be working on ambitious local economy and corporate projects that contribute to the delivery of the council’s Economic Wellbeing Strategy and council plan commitments.
Organisational Development We have one intern position available in this team and are looking for interns with an interest in Human Resources and a passion for Learning and Development.
Shared Technology Services We provide hands on support to Southwark council users having issues with all areas of it. Most normally, this is issues with physical devices such as mobiles, iPads and laptops but we also cover printing and systems support, we also visit other sites such as the libraries to fix issues.
Additional salary details
This is a 12 week Fixed Term Contract.
Southwark Council’s Internship programme is for young residents aged 16-24 who may be looking to get a great first stepping stone into the world of work.
We are a Living Wage employer and in line with our aims of leading by example, our Interns will be paid at the London Living Wage.
