Think Internships…for 2024
Southwark Council’s Internship programme is for young residents aged 16-24 who may be looking to get a great first stepping stone into the world of work.
We are a Living Wage employer and in line with our aims of leading by example, all of our Interns will be paid at the London Living Wage as a minimum.
March 2024 will be our sixth cohort and we’re excited to launch our new programme. The programme will run for 12 weeks and will incorporate three key elements:
- Paid work experience
- Master classes
- A group project
We have Intern posts available in a variety of service areas across the council, these include;
Governance and Assurance
Policy, Partnerships & Performance lead the development of the council’s strategic policy framework and on strategic partnerships (internal and external to the council). We also develop, deliver and maintain our ongoing corporate performance management framework council-wide to monitor and report on progress against the Council Delivery Plan and associated corporate health and organisation effectiveness.
A placement in the Policy, Partnerships & Performance service would give an intern the opportunity to get involved in a range of activity including;
- Supporting key strategic and partnership meetings
- Performance monitoring, including the opportunity to improve Excel and PowerBI skills
- Research into current affairs and cutting edge topics
Organisational Development focus on improving the council’s capability through the alignment of strategy, structure, people, reward and metrics and management processes. The Organisation Development intern will manage and support our workforce to respond to local needs. Key projects include: Early Talent pathways, Southwark Stands Together initiatives, tackling racial inequalities, racism and injustice.
