The Internship Programme at Southwark
Now more than ever, the young people of Southwark need support to help them access employment that reflects their ambitions and hard work.
Our paid internships are aimed at creating positive futures for young residents aged 16-24, who need help to get on the career ladder.
We’ve committed to paying our interns the Living Wage as a minimum.
Internships can last anywhere between 6 -12 weeks and are all across our council departments.

About the Opportunity at Southwark
Join us as an administration intern in our Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Team.
This team assess the needs and provide the right support for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities so that they can access education either in mainstream or special education.
The team supports over 2300 children and young people.
You will be acting in a vital administration role for the Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Team, who sit within our education department. This is a well rounded opportunity to gain essential administration skills whilst helping people in our community.
This internship lasts for 6 weeks and we have 1 placement available. At the moment we expect this to begin in late September/October 2020.
About You
Here are some key areas we look for in our interns:
- An understanding of Equality & Diversity, Health & Safety and Confidentiality.
- An understanding of what is required around timekeeping, attendance and conduct in the workplace.
- Working efficiently and effectively with customers and or peers.
- Working flexibly as part of a team.
- Ability to organise and prioritise own workload.
