The role
Southwark is recruiting an Internal Communications Officer to lead the council’s communications with its 4,500 staff.
You will use your communications expertise to ensure the council’s staff, spread across many different sites, are well-informed about the council’s priorities, vision and values. As well as sharing information, you will also engage with staff, ensuring they have forums for discussion, feedback mechanisms, and opportunities to be heard. With excellent written and verbal communications skills, you will be an expert at turning complex policies into accessible communications for our staff.
A team player, you will work with colleagues across the External Affairs team, and the wider council, to ensure staff are considered as a key audience for all our communications. Keeping up to date with the latest technology and best practice you will reinvigorate the council’s internal communications.
You will be a creative thinker who wants to engage with difficult problems and inspire others across the organisation to work with you. Working with colleagues across the council your work will help our staff deliver a fairer future for all in Southwark.
