The role

Are you someone that has a passion for helping people to have supported or independent living?

Do you have a background in supporting high and complex needs customers?

Do you understand the housing issues within London and have ideas on how this can be improved?

Are you a team player and able to deal with pressurised situations?

If so,
Southwark Housing Solutions Service has two vacancies for Housing First Officers. Southwark is a diverse borough that has a high demand for housing. We have developed a programme that focuses on supporting customers with high and complex needs to secure accommodation. Most importantly the Housing First officer will need to ensure those customers are able to remain in the accommodation as they work toward independent living.

The role would involve having a caseload, being able to draft letters, accessing services on behalf of customers and being able to make difficult decisions on matters such as safeguarding vulnerable adults that are likely to have been entrenched rough sleepers or had chaotic lifestyles over sustained periods of time.

To provide a personalised support to high and complex needs residents. The aim is to reintegrate in the customers into the community and work towards independent living. This will include undertaking complex needs casework, risk assessments, assistance with housing and benefit applications and linking with other appropriate support services.

To ensure that matters such as safeguarding and health and safety are paramount, along with maintaining an active caseload and monitoring cases where other agencies are providing services.

To establish, maintain and manage relationships with key stakeholders throughout the delivery process, at various levels. This will include organising specialist help with the assessment of those with particular issues e.g. by liaison with Health & Social Care, other Southwark Departments, Hospitals and other statutory or voluntary agencies.
