The Role:

Southwark Housing Solutions Service has a Housing Allocations Senior Officer vacancy. Southwark is a diverse borough that has a high demand for housing. The Housing Allocations Senior Officer is needed to provide supervisory support to a team of Housing Allocations officers, ensuring the administration of the Councils Choice Based Lettings scheme in relation to the allocation of properties, against departmental targets.

The purpose of this position is to support and develop a customer centred housing allocations service. The Senior Officer will lead on the allocations of the Council’s new build programme, delivering roughly 2000 additional new homes over the next 2 years. You will work closely with other key departments to make sure that new build schemes are successfully delivered and work to promote resident access and choice. The Housing Allocations Senior Officer will have good knowledge of all areas of Housing solutions including Customer services, carrying out assessments of need and making decisions on applications. You will understand and apply housing legislation, and be able to manage competing priorities.

About You:

You will need to show that customer satisfaction is at the heart of everything you do.
The role will involve you managing a team of officers responsible for the allocation social homes against the allocations scheme criteria. Having strong attention to detail, the ability to trouble short and find solutions and having a supportive and collaborative outlook, will be key in supporting the council to let available homes to residents in the most need and to time scale. You will come with supervisory or leadership experience, the ability to draft procedures that support the team to deliver on its objectives, and the ability to respond to enquiries and assess housing needs in line with the Councils’ statutory duties under Housing Act 1996 Part 6.
