The chance to participate in the Southwark Apprenticeship  Programme to work in a supported learning environment to develop advanced professional skills, knowledge, behaviours and work experience in the highways area of work.

You will attend a course of study with an assigned learning provider or college to attain an apprenticeship award or qualification that meets the requirements of National Occupational Standards at level 3.

You will have the opportunity to work in the diverse areas of highways including major projects, community schemes, structures, and a whole lot more. You’ll be immersed in a host of fascinating projects and gain valuable experience working with the various teams of experienced professionals.

You’ll need:

  • 5 GCSE's minimum including Maths and English.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively with customers.
  • Familiarity with popular business computer packages such as Word and Excel.
  • Ability to follow instruction and learn new tasks
  • Ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work flexibly as part of a team
  • Able to attend work and study at the required times.

 

It is recognised that the recruitment process and start date will potentially coincide with school/college holiday. If you intend to use a school tutor as a 1st or 2nd reference, please obtain a suitable signed reference on school/college headed letter addressed to Southwark Council. The letter should be sent to recruitment@southwark.gov.uk  by your referee work email address for use if you should be successful at the interview stage of the process.

Please note this role is being offered on a fixed term contract basis for a duration of 36 months.
