The Role: 

Southwark Council are seeking an enthusiastic Health and Safety Managers, with wide ranging skills and experience to join our centralised team and help transform Health and Safety across the whole of the Council. 

Key to this role is the ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with people across all areas of the Council, your inclusive approach will really engage with people and help us drive our new health and safety team forward. Your knowledge, skills, personality and gravitas will enable you to respond to challenges through negotiation and influence, gaining the support and confidence of heads of departments, stakeholders and external parties.

You must be able to demonstrate sound management experience in H&S processes and procedures in accordance with recognised standards and have a real appetite for change, ongoing improvement and transformation. You will be resilient, pragmatic and confident in decision making, an effective problem solver, self-motivated and able to identify and make recommendations for service improvements.

You will enjoy presenting to mixed groups and are experienced in the delivery of training - for example IOSH recognised health and safety training packages.

About you:

Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent qualification in health and safety management discipline, hold or be working towards Chartered Membership of the Institute of Occupation Safety and Health and have considerable experience of delivering health and safety in the public sector or a similar environment. Previous experience working within the education or care sector would be advantageous.
