The role
HEAD OF SERVICE ADOPT LONDON – (4 Posts providing services to 28 London Boroughs)

It is proposed that four regional Adoption Agencies will cover the London area each hosted by a local authority. North - Islington, South – Southwark, East – Havering and West - Ealing.
Successful applicants will be employed within the Host Authority.
The 4 Regional Adoption Agencies provide an opportunity to collaborate across all of London making a real difference to the lives of children at both a local and national level.
The vision for these Regional agencies is to achieve excellent outcomes for children and adults affected by adoption and to ensure services delivered are of the highest standard.
With previous experience of managing adoption services, you will know what excellent practice looks like. Your experience of transforming services will underpin how you shape and develop services to ensure this is consistently delivered. Currently registered with HCPC and with a Social Work degree (or equivalent), you will have strong knowledge and understanding of adoption regulations and relevant legislation and practice. You will have demonstrable skills in service improvement, with the ability to use excellent influencing and change management skills to work across organisational boundaries. This post is politically restricted within the terms of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989. The post-holder will be responsible to the Director of Children’s Services in one of the Host Authorities (Ealing, Havering, Islington or Southwark) and will work closely with senior colleagues across the other Local Authorities that form their Adopt London RAA to ensure best practice developments continue.
NB - As the Regional Adoption Agencies are currently under development and not yet “live”, no permanent offer of appointment will be made until cabinet sign offs have been achieved in the relevant region, currently circa February 2019.
