The Role:

The Public Health Division is recruiting a substantive permanent Head of Programme to lead our ambitious health improvement and healthy places work.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a successful, established and well-resourced team delivering on some of the most exciting cutting-edge public health interventions in a world-class city. Delivering on your responsibilities will require working in a fast-paced and challenging environment, being held to account for delivery, a strong commitment to tackling health inequalities and a high degree of personal resilience.

We are looking for an individual with excellent public health skills and experience, keen to develop their senior management experience and leadership potential.

You will manage a team of experienced public health policy officers and a budget of over £4M.

Your programme areas will include NHS Health Checks including digitalisation, healthy weight, school meals and a range of commissioned health improvement services. Although you will be responsible for strategies, commissioning and implementation, your focus must be on achieving visible difference and a demonstrable improvement in health outcomes.

About you:

You must possess expert core public health competencies such as needs assessment, using evidence to inform decision making, strong partnership skills and an ability to lead service and systems change. Excellent communication including presentation and high standards of written skills will be essential. Workforce development is key and you will be expected to bring the best out in your team.

Additional details

Salary range £56,271 - £69,990 per annum. This post also attracts an additional JNC financial benefits package of £2,724 per annum (pro-rata, April - March).
