The Role
Reporting to the Director of Modernise, Southwark Council’s new Head of IT and Digital will be accountable for shaping, assuring and delivering progressive technology infrastructure and application services which enable the Council to benefit from the full range of opportunities, digital transformation has to offer. This will include close working and liaison with its shared ICT service from an IT infrastructure perspective and service leaders and stakeholders from the across the organisation to effect far reaching business change. As the senior technology professional for the Borough, this high profile role will include an outward facing aspect, positioning Southwark Council as an exemplar for technology and digital innovation and as a catalyst for thought leadership and sharing of knowledge across the Capital.

The Person
As Head of IT and Digital, you will be accountable for leading the IT and digital profession for Southwark Council, positioning it as an exemplar for its sector. An experienced technology leader for business applications, digital services and infrastructure provision within a complex organisation of comparable scale, you will be equally adept at defining an ambitious strategy in support of business change, whilst ensuring the delivery of consistent, resilient, flexible IT services through a shared ICT service operating model. This will include close working with two local authority partner delivery organisations, coupling an ability to work both autonomously and in partnership.

You will be an expert relationship manager, able to build and instil exemplary service management rigour, defining clear metrics against which delivery through your team and the shared ICT service can be objectively measured and value for money demonstrated. Experience of leading large, multi-disciplinary digital and technology teams 55 and significant revenue and capital budgets is essential. As a strategic leader, you will have the authority and credibility to quickly build collaborative relationships with senior managers, politicians, staff, partners and local communities.

Additional salary details

This post attracts an additional JNC financial benefit of £3,503 per annum, pro-rata.
