We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.
The role:
Southwark has declared a climate emergency and set the ambitious target to transform the council and the borough to be carbon neutral by 2030.
The Head of Climate Change is an exciting new role in the council’s Climate Change and Sustainability Directorate. You will lead the council’s work on sustainability, carbon reduction, energy management and climate change issues. Work is well underway to deliver our climate change strategy and action plan, which will transform Southwark to a lower carbon and more sustainable borough. You will play a leading role in delivering that ambition.
About you:
We are looking for an enthusiastic leader who can drive our climate strategy within the council, aligning all parts of the council’s work to contribute to our overall carbon reduction aims. You will also work with partners, businesses and our residents to deliver behavioural change and to enable all parts of our borough to play their part in reducing Southwark’s carbon emissions.
As a major energy user in the borough, you will oversee the procurement of energy, and act as the Council’s strategic energy market expert. You will deliver value for money for the council and our residents while driving down energy demand as we move to more sustainable energy.
We must take action now to tackle the climate emergency, so you will come to the role with the drive, the skills and the knowledge to have real impact and to ensure that Southwark meets its ambition to become carbon neutral.
Benefits and more information:
