The role

Technology and Digital Services (TDS) are pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to join their leadership team as the Head of Applications. This role will be key to the ongoing provision of Technology and Digital services to the organisation as well as the delivery of the organisation’s Digital Strategy.

TDS are a part of the Resources directorate and work with Shared Technology Services to provide technology and digital services to the organisation and the residents or Southwark, through our website(s). We manage a number of the software applications used by our organisation to deliver services to the residents of Southwark as well as the ICT hardware, networking and infrastructure our organisation relies on.

We seek an experienced technology leader who has a passion for innovation and a proven track record of successful delivery. As a strong communicator in various formats and at all levels, you will collaborate with key stakeholders both inside and outside the organisation to achieve our vision and strategy. The right candidate will need to be able to demonstrate that they are able to lead a large team of technical staff and demonstrate strong negotiation and influencing skills when dealing with service areas and external suppliers. 

The Head of Applications oversees key council systems and projects to enhance and future-proof the application estate. They manage the delivery of the Applications portfolio, including Business Intelligence & Reporting (BIR), Graphical Information Systems (GIS), and Data Interfaces between major systems. Leading a team of programme leads and analysts, they ensure services are supported, developed, and improved. They also promote greater collaboration and best practices across the organisation for wider use of BIR.

This post attracts an additional JNC financial benefits package of £2,724 per annum (pro-rata, April-March) which can be used towards gym membership, health insurance, season ticket purchase, bicycle purchase, additional voluntary contribution to pension, subscriptions and professional fees, or taken as cash which will be paid monthly.
