The role

Effective school governance is essential in supporting young people to achieve their full potential. The purpose of the Governor Development Advisor role is to provide advice and guidance on governance, constitutional and procedural matters to schools that purchase a clerking and advisory service level agreement with Southwark.

The Governor Development Advisor will contribute towards the efficient and effective functioning of the governing boards by providing administrative and organisational support; guidance to ensure that the board works in compliance with the appropriate legal and regulatory framework and understands the potential consequences for non-compliance; and advice on procedural matters relating to the operation of the board.

Responsibilities will include providing advice to the governing board; effective administration of meetings; advice on membership and succession planning; effective management of governor information; continued personal development; and additional services in line with the job role.

About you:

You will have experience working and supporting governing boards with their clerking needs and be familiar with the regulatory and statutory requirements of governing boards. You will have excellent organisational skills and be experienced in producing high quality minutes. You will be committed to delivering excellent customer service and working as part of an established team.

Additional details

The role is part time working 16 hours, two days per week, term time only. The expectation for the two day per week role is that you will undertake around 30 meetings per year. This can vary slightly depending on the amount and complexity of the schools that you clerk.

Please note a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check is required at enhanced level.
