The role
About Southwark:
Southwark is a large, ambitious and progressive council with a ‘can do’ attitude and enviable reputation. As a Council, we are successful, passionate and forward-thinking. We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.
The Role:
Southwark Highways has a record of delivery and working with the community to achieve positive outcomes for all. From creating strategic routes for travel to key destinations, to making spaces for people to enjoy, or even just maintaining the roads, the team has a long history of success.
But delivery is only part of the challenge. We’re also trying to make it easier for the public to access information about transport in the borough and the 'Southwark Maps' GIS system is invaluable in this.
The role is about maintaining and improving this store of information, finding ways to deliver it better and ensuring the council’s offer is easy to use and comprehensive.
About You:
You'll have the skills and experience to manage and maintain published datasets, coordinating with colleagues to improve the service and working in innovative ways to help deliver for the community.
Communication is vital to the role and being able to be the bridge between a complex store of information and people who may not be fully confident with either it or the software it sits behind is a continual challenge.
We'll be constantly looking to grow you and the service, with a commitment to personal development as part of a close-knit team.
Based in our London Bridge office, we offer a full range of flexible working options with great career development opportunities.
Additional Information:
The role is being offered initially on a twelve-month fixed term contract.
