The Role

Use your gardening skills to help make Southwark bloom! We are looking for keen gardeners to carry out a wide range of gardening tasks across the borough to keep Southwark's estates and highways as attractive and pleasant as possible for everyone who lives and works on them. 

This role will include duties such as: 

- grass cutting, pruning, weeding and planting.

- cleaning, maintaining, and storing gardening equipment and materials.

Gardening experience is necessary although training will be provided on specialist equipment.

A full uniform will also be provided. 

About you:

- Experience of working in a cleaning, grounds maintenance, waste management, or related environment.

- Ability to carry out a wide range of gardening duties using appropriate tools, materials, plant, and equipment.

- Ability to work to deadlines and schedules, within a team and on own initiative.

- Ability to complete manual labour duties for up to 7 hours per day

- Happy to work outdoors in all weathers and to work flexibly over 6am - 6pm period.

- Driving license is desirable but not essential.

Additional details

- Please note this role is internal only – as such, we can only accept applications from current Southwark employees or agency workers who are currently on active assignment at Southwark Council.

- We are delighted to offer this role on a permanent contract basis.

- Working schedule is 36 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, between 6am and 6pm. (Although we expect most rotas to fall Monday to Friday).
