Are you ready to make a difference in your community? At Southwark Council, we're looking for a dynamic Facilities Helpdesk Officer who thrives in a fast-paced environment and has a passion for supporting local government services. We’re looking for a proactive, customer-focused Facilities Helpdesk Officer to join our team and support our operational FM delivery across Southwark’s estate.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide a responsive help desk service using Manhattan software to manage service requests and support internal and external partners.
  • Issue and oversee work orders for contractors, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards and all necessary documentation.
  • Coordinate emergency, urgent, and routine repair requests, liaising with clients, contractors, and the technical team to manage progress and costs.
  • Maintain and update the Service Desk database to ensure efficient and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Support various facilities services, including maintenance, compliance, cleaning, security, and special projects.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with contractors, suppliers, and key council stakeholders.
  • Monitor performance, uphold high standards of timekeeping, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Keep the Service Desk Supervisor informed of performance, progress, and customer satisfaction.

How will you make an impact:

We're looking for a motivated Facilities Helpdesk Officer with a sharp eye for detail and a talent for making a real impact and driving positive change. Ideally, you bring a mix of the following:

  • Solid background in facilities management, working in a Service or Help Desk environment, in public or private sectors.
  • Strong skills in negotiating, instructing, and maintaining relationships with suppliers, contractors, and customers.
  • Able to plan, prioritize, and handle multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Skilled in MS Office, databases, and help desk software.
  • Focused on performance through supporting effective FM strategies and systems.
  • Flexibility of home working with trips to our London Bridge HQ.
