Job Title: Advanced Practitioner (Visual impairment Rehabilitation Officer).
Salary: Up to £54,135 per annum (Subject to experience).
Working Hours: Full time, 36 hours per week.
The Role:
We’re excited to offer a new managerial role within our Sensory Service, a dynamic opportunity to help shape Adult Social Care. This is your chance to play a key part in building a strong team and introducing innovative ways of working that will make a real impact on people’s lives.
As an Advanced Practitioner, you’ll bring both practical expertise and leadership skills. You’ll mentor and supervise staff, while also managing and guiding our newly appointed apprentice. Our Sensory team plays a crucial role in supporting residents with sight loss, hearing loss, or dual sensory loss. Your work will empower them to meet their social care needs, promote independence, and help them achieve their personal goals.
About You:
We’re looking for someone who holds a relevant Honours Degree or DIP.H.E./Foundation Degree in Rehabilitation Studies (Visual Impairment), or equivalent. Registration with the professional body RWPN is essential, along with experience working with adults with visual impairments.
You’ll be able to design and deliver tailored training programmes to help individuals gain independence, whether indoors or outdoors. This includes:
- Guiding skills
- Pre-cane and long-cane orientation
- Route planning techniques
- Assessing and prescribing special equipment
This post requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check at Enhanced level.
