The role

As the Executive Administrator, you’ll be the pivotal force that keeps the Leader's office running like clockwork. From orchestrating high-level meetings that drive our borough forward to ensuring seamless coordination between cabinet members, departments, and influential external bodies—you’ll be at the heart of it all!

This role is being offered internally only on a 3-month secondment basis.

Your mission:

  • You’ll play a key role in connecting the Leader with the community, acting as a warm and responsive first point of contact for casework that matters most to our residents.
  • Your expertise will ensure that the Leader’s interactions with the public are as impactful as they are meaningful.
  • You’ll work closely with the Leader, the Cabinet, and the Corporate Management Team (CMT), providing top-tier support and coordination across the highest levels.
  • Your work will underpin the strategic decisions that shape Southwark, making a tangible difference every day.
  • You’ll oversee a range of administrative and office functions, ensuring the smooth operation using your attention to detail, organisational skills, and proactive approach.

How will you make an impact:

We need a dynamic and experienced Executive Administrator for a 3-month secondment who is passionate about public service and driven to make a difference who will bring a blend of the following:

  • Proven Experience: Administration or Executive Assistant with a track record of delivering high-quality outcomes for Senior Leadership in a Local Government context.
  • Strategic Contributor: Demonstrated ability to align Admin support with strategic Planning goals, making a tangible impact.
  • Budget Savvy: Provide administrative support for financial systems such as raising purchase orders, monitoring budgets, and ensuring appropriate sign off.
  • Performance-Driven: Skilled in providing a performance-focused supporting role, implementing effective strategies, systems, and procedures to drive continuous improvement.
  • Detail-Oriented: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, maintaining meticulous attention to detail while meeting deadlines.
  • Flexible Working: Enjoy a balanced approach with flexible home working, alongside occasional travel to our London Bridge HQ.
