The Role:

The Licensing Team processes licence applications and objections for a variety of activities including special treatments, explosives, animal licences, marriage venues, gambling and alcohol and entertainment.

The team have worked in cross agency partnership dealing with modern day slavery issues in nail bars, closing premises down that are involved and supporting the victims that have been trafficked. This type of enforcement work also supports business that conduct their licensable activities in compliance with legislation from being undercut by unscrupulous operators.

Processing licences following set procedures, writing committee reports and presenting the report to members at licensing hearings.

Enforcement of unlicensed premises and activities, from warnings to giving evidence at court and licensing hearings.

Inspecting licensed premises to ensure they are compliant with the terms and conditions of their licence.

Work some evenings and weekends to visit licensed premises as part of the Night-Time Economy Team

To work with internal and external partners to achieve compliance and safe licensed premises.

Answering queries from members of the public, applicants and licence holders on licensing issues

About You:

You need to have some licensing experience and knowledge of processing applications.

You will need to know how to investigate complaints and take appropriate action including preparing prosecution reports and giving evidence.

You will need to be able to work within a team and individually to manage a busy caseload.

You need to have good communication skills to be able to advise applicants and the public on licensing matters and to investigate complaints and unlicensed premises.

 

Additional salary details

- You will need to hold a full drivers licence and be able to use a car for work.

- The post requires some weekend and night working.
