The role
About Southwark:
Southwark is a large, ambitious and progressive council with a ‘can do’ attitude and enviable reputation. As a Council, we are successful, passionate and forward-thinking. We are committed to our ‘Fairer Futures for All’ promise which ensures that our residents and businesses are central to everything we do. If you want to make a difference at a local level, apply to Southwark Council today.
The Role:
You will be part of a small team responsible for the management, development, and delivery of a wide portfolio of contingency planning work streams in compliance with the requirements under the Civil Contingencies Act 2004. These include the council’s emergency scheme, corporate business continuity arrangements, and borough risk profiling.
Southwark is one of the biggest social landlords in the country, which will give you plenty of frontline operational experience in dealing with incidents and offer a great deal of job satisfaction of being able to make a difference to residents in the borough during an emergency. This is an exciting opportunity to join the team in shaping the council’s emergency preparedness, response and resilience.
The Requirements
You will come to us with substantial experience of business continuity and emergency planning together with a proven track record of project management. Confident managing, supervising, and training staff and reporting to partners, you will have the drive to improve on traditional ways and encourage others to look for new ideas and approaches. You will have the ability to work unsupervised with the confidence to make key decisions and implement the chosen solution whilst working in unfamiliar circumstances.
Additional Information:
An additional on call allowance of up to £2584 will be paid for candidates undertaking specific roles within Southwark's emergency scheme
