About the EDI Officer Role:
You will be responsible for programme managing delivery of the Southwark Equality Framework Action Plan and the ground-breaking Southwark Stands Together Programme of positive action to tackle racism, injustice and inequality. You will be coordinating the annual strategic refresh of the plans, supporting the council to become a fairer, more compassionate and inclusive organisation.
Combining a flair for strategic thinking and delivery with an exceptional ability to build relationships and influence change, the post holder will ensure the delivery of high quality outputs and outcomes within time, cost and risk. This will include the development of business cases, programme plans, robust monitoring and reporting, risk and issue management, stakeholder communications and engagement and aligning the programme with both strategic and operational priorities.
About you
We are looking to recruit individuals who have:
Previous experience of working within an EDI role
A proven track record of delivering EDI projects
A strong knowledge of EDI principles and good practice
The ability to work closely with colleagues to manage and implement action plans
The ability to prioritise work and to meet tight deadlines
High level written and verbal communication skills
The flexibility and the ability to work effectively in a large and complex public sector organisation.
The ability to be well-organised, detail-oriented and goal-motivated
You don’t need to have worked in the sector before. But you will need the enthusiasm and drive to understand the field we work in, and a strong commitment to equality and ensuring residents are central to everything we do. You will also need to share our values of integrity, transparency, respect, fairness and teamwork.
