The salary range for this position is: £42,855 - £50,088
The Council’s Professional Finance Services (PFS) division provides accounting and financial advisory and support services, however we're not just about numbers; we're about supporting and transforming lives and communities. Our multifaceted portfolio is made up of around 50 members of staff arranged in a ‘hub and spoke’ model with three departmental finance teams and a central ‘corporate finance’ team.
We're now on the lookout for an experienced Business Manager who is passionate about Administration and Support services that aid our Finance Teams who drive strategic financial decisions that deliver our corporate ambitions. In this role, you'll have the opportunity to develop, manage, and provide both administration, operational and project support, ensuring the efficient delivery of services across a diverse range of areas.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide business administration, operational and project management services offering a highly organised delivery lead approach.
- Ensure PFS is compliant in terms of its directorate support functions and corporate strategy and performance framework.
- Ensure integrity of reports, accuracy of management information and compliance with legislative requirements are delivered within agreed deadlines.
- Support the Senior Management Team (SMT), offering valuable business administration to ensure the success of our corporate objectives.
- Organise and coordinate meetings and briefings for cabinet members and other senior finance officers.
- To take the lead on appropriate governance procedures and compliance strategies, including records management, statutory compliance, data quality, departmental website updates, and information sharing.
- Manage the recruitment process for PFS staff and co-ordinate the hiring process with the internal Talent Partner.
- Shape and deliver continuous service improvement across the PFS division
How will you make an impact as our Divisional Business Manager?
- An adaptable Business Manager, with a strength of presence to take the lead with all departmental Administration and accelerate performance focused programmes of work.
- Previous Corporate Administration experience blended with knowledge of Local Government or Public Sector processes and frameworks is highly desired.
- Proficiency in MI reporting, analysis, and decision-making skills.
- You will have a passion for business planning, performance monitoring systems, and building robust processes that are time efficient and deliver results.
- A natural problem-solver who can embed strong governance principles and controls within a critical administration support role.
- Strong business partnering skills, able to cultivate cross-collaborative relationships with a broad range of stakeholders.
- A high comfort level with ambiguity, able to navigate challenging opinions with ease.
- This role offers flexible home working blended with travel into our London Bridge HQ.
