The role

Are you passionate about creating digital experiences that captivate and engage? We are looking for a Digital Content Officer to take charge of our digital presence and help shape the way our community interacts with us online. In this role, you will be the go-to expert for managing and enhancing content across our corporate website, intranet, and other key platforms. You will be instrumental in keeping our digital spaces fresh, accessible, and user-friendly, ensuring that visitors, residents, and businesses can find what they need quickly and easily.

As a Digital Content Officer, you will work closely with various teams to lead website improvements and content updates, using data, analytics, and user feedback to make informed decisions. You will champion projects that not only make our sites look great but function seamlessly, from implementing new content systems to improving user journeys. Your attention to detail and creative approach will ensure that everything from layout to language aligns with our goals of delivering top-tier digital services.

You will also play a vital role in content creation, shaping how we communicate with users through well-crafted, engaging copy. As a champion in digital best practices, you will guide others across the organisation in writing for the web, ensuring consistency in tone and style. Key responsibilities:

•  Provide expert advice on managing and updating content across Southwark’s corporate website, intranet, and other platforms, ensuring they meet user needs.
•  Lead website and content improvements, using data, analytics, and user feedback to enhance usability and accessibility.
•  Provide guidance on best practices for writing for the web, ensuring consistent tone and style across all digital content.
•  Collaborate with various teams to drive digital projects, from content updates to system implementations.
•  Support the implementation of new web features and tools, ensuring they align with strategic goals and improve user experience.
•  Analyse web statistics and user data to recommend ongoing improvements, ensuring content remains relevant and easy to navigate.

How will you make an impact as our Digital Content Officer?

You will bring a blend of technical expertise, creativity, and hands-on experience to ensure our digital platforms thrive.

•  Proven experience working with content management systems and digital content platforms.
•  Strong understanding of the latest technology trends and their application in web management.
•  Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to create clear and engaging content for a variety of audiences.
•  Experience using web analytics tools like Google Analytics to drive data-led improvements.
•  Ability to manage digital projects, ensuring they are delivered on time and within scope.
•  Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams.
•  Experience working in a large, customer-focused organisation.
•  Ability to work independently, take initiative, and bring creative ideas to life.

Additional details

We will only consider applications from internal candidates, that are current employees or agency workers on an active assignment. We encourage any internal staff to to gain agreement from their substantive line manager if considering this is as a secondment opportunity.

This post is a fixed term/ secondment for 12 months.
