The Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Qualified Social Worker to join the substance misuse service as a Deputy Manager. The service consists of two teams, the Substance Misuse Rehab Team (SMRT) and the Substance Misuse Engagement and Recovery Team (SMERT). The role is designed to support the Team Manager to manage all aspects of the service and to be involved in the ongoing development of both teams. The service users involved are at different points in their substance misuse journey, some actively seeking abstinence and some requiring support to do so.

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed qualified Social Worker to be the Deputy Manager for both teams. This is an exciting opportunity to develop your social work management skills, provide supervision to team members and help to shape and develop the ongoing delivery of substance misuse service provision in the Council.

You will have the scope to develop creative and innovative processes to ensure service users are at the centre of the support they receive using a strengths based approach. The services are different and either assess for eligibility in accordance with the Care Act 2014 or employ direct work using a trauma informed approach and employing harm minimisation when engaging with service users. An additional element of the role will be to provide aftercare support to service users who have been through detox and rehab services and are returning to the local community and need specialist support with this transition.

You will co-work with colleagues across all the Adult Social Care departments and in collaboration with existing substance/alcohol misuse agencies and networks in the borough.
