The Role:
Southwark Council is recruiting a Centre Manager at our innovative Resource Centre, based in Walworth. Our centre provides exciting day opportunities to a broad range of clients with physical, emotional, sensory, mental health and LD needs - spanning a range of disabilities. We are looking a Centre Manager with experience of working with people with disabilities and older people and has a proven track record in leadership and managing teams. Understanding of Strength Based ways of working and implementing targeted care and support needs is essential to this role. The centre provides a universal offer of support, information and advice and is open to the wider Community/Community Voluntary Sector and volunteers.
Some of our residents have complex health needs, which may require knowledge of moving and handling, managing personal care and ensuring medication administration and care/treatment plans are followed. Staff receive regular training to meet these needs, alongside a comprehensive induction package.
You will be responsible for the day-to-day running and management of the centre, which includes attending key meetings, ensuring all standards are met, managing health and safety, implementing staff supervision, training and appraisals.
About you:
This post is responsible to the Service Manager for Provider Services in Adults Social Care, and you will manage a team of staff based at the Southwark Resource Centre in Walworth.
We are looking for a candidate who is a strong communicator, organised, with an eye for detail and can work well under pressure with conflicting priorities. A candidate who can advocate for, empower and lead a team to work to the best of their ability.
We require the successful candidate to have worked, for at least 2 years, in a position relevant and comparable to day services. You will have experience of working with adults with complex disabilities to promote their independence, resilience and well-being.
You will have experience of supervising and managing staff for a minimum of 2 years, working in a comparable care role setting.
You will need to demonstrate and promote safe working practices, showing innovative and creativity in meeting the needs of both residents and visitors to the centre. To be able to demonstrate best practice, sound quality assurance methods and performance/budget monitoring within an agreed resource allocation.
You will have a genuine passion for the provision of high quality services for adults. A commitment to strengths based ways of working and being a practical thinker while keeping the person at the centre of our strategic vision.
You will have awareness of Social Care legislation, including safeguarding adults.
You will have a good working knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and compliance requirements for staff, our premises and Southwark Council.
You will have understanding and demonstrate principles of Equality and Diversity.
Experience of working in a multi-agency team and good IT skills are essential. Knowledge of Mosaic is preferable.

Additional Information:
Hours of work are Monday to Friday 9am – 5pm. There may be times working outside of these hours are required.
