The Role:
The Southwark Pension Fund is part of the Local Government Pension Scheme (the scheme), and it is the largest pension fund in London in terms of scheme membership with net assets of £1.53 billion.
As part of an ongoing commitment in digital technology and business transformation, Pension Services is at the start of an exciting new journey around future pension provision, service excellence and engagement with scheme members and other stakeholders.
The Pension Services team manages the administration of the Southwark Pensions Fund .
The data/systems section within Pension Services will be responsible for managing data flow within Southwark Council and external employers/schools within the council, ensuring that pension data is accurate and complete.
Key responsibilities of the Data System Manager include:
-To proactively identify and implement the council’s best practice, Government legislation and the Pensions Administration and Data Management strategies. Bringing any concerns to the attention of the Senior Management Team and ensure that managers and staff are advised on pension and data issues. Providing comprehensive systems support to the Pensions Management Team.
-To lead on all system improvements and regular maintenance of UPM and its Employer and Member portals. To maintain, redesign and update system processes to improve efficiency and ultimately improve the service to the fund’s end users.
- To lead on pensions data reporting and statistical analysis, developing and testing SQL reports from Civica UPM. Develop and maintain regular (weekly, monthly) housekeeping reports testing data integrity, identifying data gaps and having procedures in place to then populate missing data fields in line with Data Management strategy.
- To promote the council’s ‘Digital First’ policy and facilitate member access and continuous improvement to Member Self Service, and maintain additional site content.
- To deal with the most complex data queries and determine how pension calculations are being determined through the pension system.

About You:
As a key part of the Pension Services team, you will be able to liaise with staff and colleagues at all levels of the council, and also provide excellent customer service to end users and other stakeholders.
We’re looking for someone with drive and determination and the skills and abilities to make the Pension Services team perform at the highest level.
