The role

We are looking for a Creative Arts/Play Specialist who is able to offer either play, art or music therapy sessions according to their own specialism to our primary pupils, with excellent knowledge and understanding of therapy (in own specialised field) as well as wider therapies and their applications.

The candidate will be educated to least current degree level, fully qualified therapist in own specialised field & associated registration with an appropriate body (i.e. BACP, UKCP, BAAT, PTUK, BAPT).

About you:

You will be able to draw upon your knowledge, skills and experience of working with children who present challenging behaviour and who have significant and complex social and emotional needs; often stemming from adverse childhood experiences.

You will have a comprehensive understanding of mental health in children, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), trauma and the impact of abuse and mental health difficulties on child development, attachment and behaviour.

You can work as an integral part of Summerhouse Behavioural Support Service to ensure that the quality and delivery of the specialised work is consistently maintained in line with its policies and procedures.

Summerhouse Behaviour Support Service is Southwark's provision for primary aged children in need of specialist support to prevent permanent exclusion from their mainstream schools.

Additional details

Hours of work, part-time - 2 days a week (Monday or Tuesday and Thursday or Friday).

Grade 8 Term Time Only (TTO).

Permanent contract of contract.

The role requires a satisfactory Disclosure and Baring Service (DBS) check at enhanced level.
