Contract Specialist: https://sourcing.penna.com/clients/london-borough-of-southwark/contract-specialist/

About Southwark:

At Southwark, we are committed to making our borough just and fair, and taking positive action to tackle inequalities. We support a thriving, diverse and dynamic community, and our passion for Southwark is shared by the millions of Londoners who enjoy our outstanding cultural offer and attend our world-class hospitals and universities. If you want to make a difference to one of the most exciting parts of London, apply to Southwark Council today.

The Role:

Lay the groundwork to build a skilled contingent team

To do our best for over 300,000 residents we need temporary workers to fill all sorts of roles – from social workers to building surveyors. As our Contracts Specialist, you’ll take care of all the contract arrangements, ensuring they’re effective, consistent, and value for money.

It’s a newly created role where you’ll have the chance to develop a whole new area of our resourcing service. Using your expertise to shape the way we work, you’ll help us build a talent pool that’s good value, skilled and diverse.

Day to day, you’ll lead our approach to procurement and contract management, following best practice. You’ll then work with HR colleagues to provide hiring managers with customer-focused resourcing solutions. We’ll be relying on you to provide the specialist knowledge that this kind of challenge demands: advice on the use of temporary workers, plus analysis of market trends, salary benchmarking and regulatory requirements.

About You:

We’re looking for:

- A degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience

- Experience of drawing on data analysis to drive continuous improvement and change

- Customer focus and the drive to achieve high standards

- Experience of working collaboratively within a large, complex organisation

- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to analyse and present complex concepts, data and information

- Commitment to Southwark Council’s values and our ambition to become an ever more inclusive, anti-racist organisation

- Knowledge of the temporary labour market plus previous experience in this field - but this is not essential

Recruitment timetable

Closing date: 19th February 2023

Interview date: w/c 6th March 2023

We are an organisation that is passionate about our people and understands that richness of diversity is a requirement to provide the best possible services to our communities. This is demonstrated by our council-wide commitment to tackle racial inequality in our communities and workforce through our Southwark Stands Together programme. We particularly welcome applications from candidates with under-represented backgrounds including candidates from Black, Asian and ethnic minority communities.
