THE ROLE

A fixed-term contract or secondment opportunity for one year commencing December 2020 for a Constitutional Officer, has arisen in the Constitutional Team -  Law and Democracy.

The Constitutional Team is an influential team located at the centre of the authority, charged with supporting the decision making processes. The successful candidate must be able to:

  • Provide high quality advice and support to the council’s decision making bodies, especially planning committees and also council assembly, cabinet and other committees, and to be adept at finding solutions and providing complex advice to councillors, officers and members of the public.
  • Work closely with the Head of Constitutional Services and Principal Constitutional Officer and play an important role in maintaining the highest standards of corporate governance.
  • Work closely with councillors and senior officers to develop and maintain an excellent democratic function in Southwark, maximising public accountability and engagement.

This is a 12 Months Fixed Term Contract

Due to the nature of the role, it is mandatory to attend evening meetings.  Time of in lieu will be provided.
