The Role:

The post is within the Communities division.  You will be  a member of a team which supports commissioning within the division as well as the Council's relationship with local voluntary and community groups. It leads on grant giving, and support for those seeking and managing external funding.

It’s an exciting time for the team as we work with our partners to transform the experience of grant giving and receiving in the borough to better address inequalities. You will help to create and maintain a thriving and dynamic voluntary and community sector (VCS) that meets the diverse needs of people in Southwark There will be considerable contact with external organisations especially staff and trustees of local voluntary and community groups,.

About You:

You’ll be a dynamic and energetic person with a good understanding of the voluntary and community sector, you will be good at listening to and understanding communities, developing relationships and making good use of data to support effective commissioning and grant giving.  We are looking for:

- Someone with passion and energy for the role

- Understanding of diverse communities in inner London

- Flexibility/creativity/ability to manage complex information and data

- Great attention to detail and excels in process led environments

- Relationship builder- internal and external

- Good communication skills

- Relevant experience communities/VCS

Additional Information:

- Knowledge of the environment of inner city areas

- Experience of assessing applications and making recommendations based on these assessments

- Able to demonstrate an understanding of the processes of identifying and evaluating community needs

- Experience of the voluntary and community sector and knowledge of the work of the sector

- Good ICT skills in word processing, use of spreadsheets and the subsequent collation and presentation of financial and performance data.

- Able to present material in a variety of media to wide range of audiences.
