The role:
Our Clinical Services (teams of psychologists and therapists) work with children and families open to Children’s Social Care and Youth Justice Services and with women who have experienced – or are at risk of – repeated pregnancies that result in children needing to be removed from their care.
Our staff work both with social work colleagues and directly with children and parents, to help ensure a therapeutic understanding of the difficulties that lead to social care and youth justice service involvement in families’ lives, and to support the change needed to give our children and young people in Southwark the start in life they deserve. We do this by taking a whole family approach focussing on supporting parents and extended networks to care for and keep their children safe wherever possible, and supporting parents who are not able to do so to pause and take control over their lives via our Pause team.
As the Service Coordinator, you will be responsible for providing comprehensive and confidential assistance and administrative support to the service to enable staff to perform their duties effectively and efficiently. You’ll play a key role in our service, where everyone takes a flexible and collaborative approach to work, and is committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable and marginalised groups.

At Southwark we are committed to making our borough just and fair and are taking positive action to tackle inequalities. Our residents and communities are our greatest asset and the passion we have for Southwark is shared by millions of Londoners who enjoy our outstanding cultural offer, use our hospitals and attend our universities. Our refreshed borough plan and focus on Southwark Stands Together, (which is our work with Southwark’s communities and the council’s staff to tackle racism, injustice and inequality) underpins all that we do.
About You:
You are a well-organised, creative and enthusiastic professional who is passionate about improving the lives of children and families involved with children’s social care and who has had experience of business administration at a senior level, preferable within a local authority environment. You’ll have some understanding of project management principles and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
