The role
Adult social care in Southwark is seeking an experienced officer to take a leading role on assessment of and charging for adult social care financial contributions and the collection of associated income. Supporting the client finance manager to refresh our approach and embed best practice across a whole systems approach to the delivery of the councils Fairer Contributions Policy.
With a strong background in implementing new processes and recent practical experience in financial assessments, and the successful collection of income, you will be looking for a new challenge that will provide an excellent opportunity to shape policy, procedures and practice across the council both within the service and the wider department.
You will have experience of working in a large complex organisation, and interrogating a range of information and financial management systems such as MOSAIC and SAP or similar. With responsibility for the preparation of reports for senior audiences within the council, providing expert guidance to the management team. The post holder will also need to build effective internal and external partnerships with a wide range of colleagues and stakeholders to ensure that the whole assessment, charging, and collection process is improved.
Located in the Client Finance and Personal budgets service, which delivers a range of back office functions; the successful candidate will take a leading role in the collection of adult social care as set out in the council’s Fairer Contributions Policy and the Care Act 2014. You will be required to have difficult conversations with vulnerable clients. Working in an understanding and supportive manner, whilst delivering the required outcomes for income collection.
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual, who will champion an integrated and modernised approach to financial assessments, charging and income collection that focuses on accurate and effective communication, early intervention and debt prevention.
