The Role:

You will be responsible for the strategic management of effective cleaning and grounds maintenance services working on behalf of the London Borough of Southwark. This will include the performance and continual development of the cleaning and grounds maintenance services in Southwark and improving customer satisfaction, both actual and perceived, by residents, tenants and all other stakeholders – making Southwark a great place to live.

Within this role you will develop strong and effective working relationship with the Members, residents and the tenant movement as well as other interested groups. You will liaise closely with the council’s finance team to ensure that commercial waste customer accounts and budget are monitored and managed.

The post of Cleaning & Grounds Maintenance Manager sits within the Waste & Cleaning Division. The post-holder will work from the Cleaning & Grounds Maintenance base at Sandgate Street SE15.

About You:

We are looking for a person who cares passionately about the environment and the public realm to be responsible for leading the council’s in-house cleaning and grounds maintenance services. These services include street and estate cleaning, grounds maintenance on estates and highways, graffiti removal, gully emptying, commercial waste collections and a range of other ancillary services with a workforce of over 600 staff.
