Our Children & Families Services have been consistently rated Good by Ofsted in all areas. From that strong position we are embarking on an exciting journey to establish a new Children's Residential Service and a family of new children's homes in Southwark. This is to deliver our goal of ensuring more of our children in care are supported to live locally, to remain connected to their communities and networks.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Children's Registered Manager to own the development of a brand new children's home, build and develop your team, design and embed the culture and practice within the home, lead on new relationships across the partnership and create new provision that delivers exceptional care for our children. Our first home will provide care for a maximum of 5 children and young people between the ages of 10 to 16 years.   

As our professional expert in residential children's care you will act as our Registered Manager with Ofsted and work as a core member of our corporate parenting leadership team to lead the Ofsted registration process and enable our first new home to begin operating.

In return you will receive a high level of wraparound support from your social care colleagues and leaders, our dedicated service development and transformation function, our in-house Clinical Service, and a range of dedicated multi-agency partners within and outside the council. All focussed on ensuring our Southwark's new children's homes deliver nationally leading care innovation and outcomes for our children.

About You:

You will be a highly experienced and highly motivated Children's Residential Manager, with excellent communication and leadership skills and exemplary knowledge of children's home regulations and associated regulatory requirements. You will have strong experience in children's social care and a history of successfully establishing and/or operating children's residential home provision to the highest standard.

You must have within the last 5 years, worked for at least 2 years in a position relevant to the residential care of children. You must have worked for at least one year in a role requiring the supervision and management of staff working in a care role. You must have attained the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (England) or a qualification which the Council considers to be equivalent to the Level 5 Diploma in line with statutory guidance.

Additional details

The salary range is £56,059 - £64,221 per annum (this includes 15% Market Supplement).
