The role

The Director of Environment & Leisure embarked on an extensive change programme in August 2020, to ensure that the department is fit for purpose for the future and to meet the challenges of financial pressures and the economic and social recovery that will be needed following Covid.

Our ‘Working Together’ programme will deliver significant change that involves technology, culture and behaviour as well as service redesign.  A multi-disciplinary change team is being established to support the Director in delivering sustainable change.

We want to recruit a diverse team and to create career development opportunities for Southwark staff.  We’d like to hear from you if you’re interested in getting involved with the programme, no matter what your experience or background.  We are particularly keen to attract individuals who share our passion for equality and diversity, and are enthusiastic to take part and learn.

We’re aware that some under-represented groups are typically less likely to apply for jobs unless they are sure they comfortably meet all the criteria.  With this in mind, we want to encourage all potential candidates to reflect on their strengths and experience in the broadest sense, when considering their suitability for the position.

Change Manager

The Change Manager will work across the department to support staff and managers to adapt to various change initiatives.  They will design and deliver engagement activity, ensuring that staff feel supported and involved in any changes that affect them personally.  We’re ideally looking for someone who has experience of managing complex change in a Council but we’d also like to hear from anyone who has relevant transferrable skills, either from work or personal situations.

Application Process:

If you are interested in applying for this role, please complete the online application form and detail your suitability for the role, by using the Personal Specification to highlight your skills for the shortlisting criteria.   The Personal Specification can be found at the bottom of this page under attachments.
