Salary range:

The salary range for this position is: £28,977 - £32,205 

The Role:

Join Our Team as a Southwark CCTV Operator: Unleash Your Inner Surveillance Skills! Are you ready to embark on a thrilling career where every moment counts? As a CCTV operator for Southwark Council, you'll be at the heart of the action, as part of a highly proactive team working in a bespoke CCTV control room. Picture this: a bustling Town Centre, sprawling Housing Estates, and serene open spaces, all under your watchful eye. Be at the forefront of safety and security.

You'll be the vigilant guardian of our borough using ever progressing technology to proactively spot suspicious behaviour, ASB, criminal activity, environmental crime reacting swiftly when needed. Collaborating with key partners, you will help enhance the local environment and support in improving the safety of Southwark's residents, workers, and visitors.

It's a thrilling and impactful role where you make a real difference every day, making Southwark a safer and more attractive place for all.

You will maintain detailed incident reports and focused patrol logs to be shared with relevant partners which will require computer literacy. Shifts are from 10:00-21:00hrs, 36 hours per week within a set shift pattern covering a 7 day period, involving weekend and bank holidays

About You:

You should be familiar with and adhere to the principles of the GDPR, Human Rights Act, RIPA, Freedom of Information Act and knowledge of Common Laws that governs the use of public sector CCTV.

You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable using radio communications equipment.

Due to the nature of the post candidates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, 1974 (Exceptions) Order, 1975 as amended, pursuant to Section 4 of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974. Successful candidates require security clearance Non Police Personnel Vetting (NPPV2) and a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) police check. This will be carried out at the provisional offer stage clearance will need to be gained prior to contract issue. Future loss of this clearance will lead to removal from the CCTV control room pending appeal, and will lead to loss of the position if clearance is not re-instated.

Additional salary details

There are shift enhancements for out of hours and weekend working associated with this post.
