The Role:

As one of our CCTV operators, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Council’s CCTV monitoring system, with proactive and reactive monitoring of Town Centre and Housing Estates CCTV cameras, within a purpose-built CCTV control room.

You will be working with key partners including the police to improve the local environment and safety of those who live, work and visit Southwark.

You will maintain detailed reports and tasking logs to be shared with relevant partners which will require computer literacy.

36 hours per week within a set shift pattern covering a 7 day period, involving weekend and Bank Holidays. Your daily hours will be completed between 11am-9pm subject to service need.


About You:
You should be familiar with and adhere to the principles of the GDPR, Human Rights Act, RIPA, Freedom of Information Act and knowledge of Common Laws that governs the use of public sector CCTV.

You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable using radio communications equipment.

Due to the nature of the post candidates are not entitled to withhold information regarding convictions by virtue of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, 1974 (Exceptions) Order, 1975 as amended, pursuant to Section 4 of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.

Successful candidates also require security clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB) and a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) police check. Loss of this clearance will lead to removal from work place activity pending appeal, and may lead to dismissal if security clearance is not re-instated.

There are shift enhancements for out of hours and weekend working associated with this post.
