The role
As one of our CCTV operators, you will be responsible for the effective and efficient operation of the Council’s CCTV monitoring system, with proactive and reactive monitoring of Town Centre and Housing Estates CCTV cameras, within a built CCTV control room.
You will be working with key partners including the police to improve the local environment and safety of those who live, work and visit Southwark.
You will maintain detailed report s and tasking logs to be shared with relevant partners which will require computer literacy.
You should be familiar with and adhere to the principles of the GDPR, Human Rights Act, RIPA, Freedom of Information Act and knowledge of Common Laws that governs the use of public sector CCTV.
You will have excellent communication skills and be comfortable using radio communications equipment.

Successful candidates also require security clearance from the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS, formerly CRB) and a Counter Terrorism Check (CTC) police check. Loss of this clearance will lead to removal from work place activity pending appeal, and may lead to dismissal if security clearance is not re-instated.
